CAE is a full-service defence company established in 1947 and
headquartered in Canada. We employ approximately 8,000 people
worldwide - about 4,000 of which are here in Canada - at more than
160 sites and training locations in more than 35 countries.
At home, CAE focuses on two key capability areas: Training and
Simulation, and Operational Systems and Support. In the
training and simulation area, CAE offers a comprehensive portfolio
of products, services and training centres for the Canadian Forces.
We leverage simulation expertise and operational experience to help
the Canadian Forces enhance safety, improve efficiency, and
maintain readiness. In the operational systems area, CAE is
truly a partner of choice delivering advanced systems integration
solutions, and ongoing in-service and integrated logistics support
to air, land, and naval platforms and subsystems. CAE offers
international partners a unique opportunity to "Canadianize" their
technologies, deliver them into Canadian programs as Canadian
content, and support those solutions through life.
We are a world-class training systems integrator offering a
comprehensive portfolio of training centres, training services and
simulation products across the air, land, naval and public safety
market segments. We serve our global defence and security
customers through regional operations in Canada; the United
States/Latin America; Europe/Middle East/Africa; and Asia/Pacific,
all of which leverage the full breadth of CAE's capabilities,
technologies and solutions.
Our success abroad is directly impacted by the recognition we
get in Canada as being a full-service defence company. Throughout
the defence lifecycle - from research and concept analysis, system
design and development, training, and ultimately to operation and
in-service support - CAE Canada has experience and capabilities in
each of these areas across air, land, naval, and public
safety.
Training and Simulation Program Examples in
Canada:
CAE is the prime contractor as the Operational Training Systems
Provider (OTSP) to integrate and support operational aircrew
training solutions for the tactical airlift aircraft (CC-130J) and
medium-to-heavy lift helicopters (CH-147).
CAE also delivered a comprehensive CC-130J maintenance training
solution at the Air Mobility Training Centre (AMTC) in Trenton.
CAE is currently developing a CAE 3000 Series helicopter
simulator that will feature cockpits for both the Bell 412EPI and
Bell 429 helicopters for the Canadian Coast Guard. The CAE 3000
Series helicopter simulator will feature CAE's revolutionary
roll-on/roll-off cockpit design, which enables cockpits
representing various helicopter types to be used in the full-flight
simulator. The Canadian Coast Guard, which is part of Canada's
Department of Fisheries and Oceans, will acquire cockpits for both
the Bell 412EPI and Bell 429 helicopters, which are used by the
Canadian Coast Guard for maritime security and other fisheries
activities.
Operational Systems and Support Program Examples in
Canada:
We have a wealth of systems integration experience, such as
providing electronic warfare capabilities to the Canadian Army.
For the past 25 years, we have provided systems engineering,
integrated logistics support (ILS) and data management for the
CF-18 fleet. CAE has achieved the Capability Maturity Model
Integration (CMMI) Level 5 certification for its team supporting
the CF-18 fleet. This is highest quality standard possible for
software engineering and we are one of the few organizations in
Canada to be Level 5 certified.
We are delivering the Integrated Information Environment (IIE)
for Canada's new CH-148 Cyclone maritime helicopter, which is
another example of our in-service support capabilities.
Investing in Research and Development is key to our
success and benefits customers
Innovation and technology leadership in modelling and simulation
has always been critical to CAE's global success, and the company
continues to make significant investments to stay at the forefront
of the industry. In partnership with our customers and
employees, we seek input to help shape our investment in R&D to
ensure it is in-line with the training and operational needs of our
customers. This is why CAE is recognized as the benchmark in our
industry to help our customers' mission critical needs for safety,
cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and mission readiness.
Investing to enhance training systems integration
capabilities and further support the Canadian Forces
Since October, 2015 CAE has been has been the prime contractor
responsible for the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) program
that produces qualified military pilots for defence customers. This
acquisition significantly enhances CAE's core capabilities as a
training systems integrator (TSI), and expands our offering into
support for live flying training of future military pilots,
including next-generation fighter pilots, for the Royal Canadian
Air Force and its allies. The NFTC program is in operation at the
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and Cold Lake, Alberta facilities, and is
designed and operated in cooperation with the Government of Canada.
The program combines basic, advanced, and lead-in fighter training
as part of the comprehensive pilot training program. CAE operates
the NFTC base facilities, delivers the ground-school classroom and
simulator training, and supports the live flying training included
in this world-class turnkey training system.
